Thank you to everyone who helped with our Thanksgiving Mission! Both dogs were adopted by a family in Amherst, NY and to all those who inquired about the dogs thank you as well. There are now two dogs who have found a family for life... if you are looking for a companion please look for a rescue dog... they are looking for a family.
Life is short... especially for these beautiful dogs who lost their home
It is hard to believe that sometime during the week of November 7th, 2011, someone placed their dogs into a car, drove to the town of Wales (not far from East Aurora), pulled over to the side of the road and dumped them. Imagine what the dogs were thinking. They give unconditional love, protect their owners when they sense danger, give them joy with their canine antics... and this is what they get? Sometimes people do stupid things, and the result is a pair of wonderful, friendly dogs looking for a home. That's exactly what happened to the two dogs in these pictures, when thankfully Aurora Dog Control Officer Sheryl Harris found them together looking very lost. How could someone possibly do this? Well, their loss is someone's gain, so please, if you ever thought you'd love to rescue a dog who so desperately needs a home, this is the time. If you just can't do it, then please pass this along to your friends on Facebook, LinkedIn and your email list to give these guys a chance. Time is ticking and they need a home before they go to the SPCA on Monday, November 21st, and then their chances are pretty much zilch. What a great time for a real thanksgiving... the giving of a home to a beautiful new friend.
Each dog has been given the once over by a vet; they have their rabies vaccinations and are ready to come home. They seem like they were lost together, but taking just one of them is fine. If you have questions you can call Dog Control Officer (a very nice person) Sheryl Harris at 716-652-7944 or just send her an email.
This Black Lab is around 8 years old, very friendly with a nice bark to let you know someone is at the door. He is an older dog so he won't be much trouble around the house. He walks very well on leash and doesn't mind other dogs.

This mixed Shepherd is about 4-5 years old and is quite a lover. She is very friendly and affectionate. She also walks on leash very well and doesn't mind other dogs. Stop by and meet both dogs... they'll make your day as they did mine.
