Good News: On February 27th, 2012, Dodger found his forever home... thanks to all for spreading the word!
A family in New York had the kindness to save and care for a lost dog. Dodger now needs your help to find his new family. Life is short. Why not adopt a homeless dog? If not, can you pass this link to your friends and family?
It happens so often it's amazing people aren't more outraged about it, but somehow people have no problem dumping their dogs like trash. Imagine what these dogs are thinking? I couldn't imagine this, but here we are again, with a lost dog, looking for a home.
Sometime around the 2011 holidays Jennifer Marx was driving home and saw a dog walking alone. hungry and cold. She and her husband, Eric, who have several cats, took the dog in. They fed him and took him to the vet. The vet updated the dog's shots (he is totally updated and neutered), who told them the dog was healthy, about 19 months old, and by looking at his paws, had been on the streets for at least a month.
Being from Long Island myself (my wife and I grew up on the south shore) I know there are always lots of people and cars around, so for this dog to have been out in the cold that long is amazing. Thanks to Jennifer and Eric, he had a warm and safe, temporary home. But Jennifer's family can't have a dog for several reasons and after taking care of Dodger for over a month, taking care of his vet bills and giving him the love he needed, they found a good foster home for Dodger. He now plays with a female German Shepherd (mix) all day long. But this foster home is a temporay home for Dodger... that's where you, the reader come in.
Dogs give unconditional love, protect their owners when they sense danger, give them joy with their canine antics... and this is what they get? Sometimes people do stupid things, and the result is a wonderful, friendly dog looking for a home. Well, their loss is someone's gain, so please, if you have ever thought about rescuing a dog who so desperately needs a home, this is the time. If you just can't do it, then please pass this along to your friends on Facebook, LinkedIn and your email list to give Dodger a chance (you can click on the share icons below). Time is ticking and he needs a home. So please, please, please either consider this dog for your family or pass this along to all your networks.. why not, right?
Dodger has been evaluated by a vet; he is neutered, has his rabies vaccinations along with other needed shots and is ready to come home. Jennifer and Eric have been kind enough to board this dog and take care of him, and now the foster family needs your assistance. So let's help them out by finding a home for this wonderful dog. If you have questions you can call Charlie d'Estries at 716-771-2899 or send me an email. You can also email Jennifer Marx and visit the foster family Facebook page as well.

This dog is a mixed breed; part German Sheppard for sure! He's around 18-24 months, very friendly with a nice bark to let you know someone is at the door. He walks well on leash and loves to play with other dogs.

The Marx's and his new foster family have no children, so it's difficult to say how he'd do around kids. He is friendly and playful but we're not sure about cats either. In my experience, cats and dogs eventually get along, but it's something to consider when evaluating if this dog is right for you.
